The Best Ski Resorts in Austria

The Best Ski Resorts in Austria

With the Alps covering most of the country, well laid out slopes, excellent mountain facilities, modern lift systems, Austria is one of Europe's top ski destinations.

Austrian ski villages can be chocolate-box pretty, with good, reasonably priced accommodation.

The downside to Austria is that many of the ski resorts are at mid-altitude, so the snow can be a bit sketchy.

Kitzbühel

kitzbühel Ski Resort

Famous above all for the Men's Downhill Race on the Hahnenkamm.
Kitzbühel has 158km of piste of its own and is lift linked with Kirchberg.

Ischgl

St Anton Am Arlberg

St Anton am Arlberg Ski Resort

Zell am See

Zell am See and Kaprun Ski Resorts

Zell am See is a lakeside summer resort town with a charming old centre. Zell am See's ski slopes have a lot of variety and some slightly challenging terrain, but not enough to keep a keen intermediate or expert skier happy for long. Plenty of activities for non-skiers.
