Après Ski in Tignes

Where to eat

Val Claret probably has the best selection of restaurants out of the five villages. It is definitely worth making the trip to Val d'Isère one evening.

Clin d'Oeil
This is a very popular restaurant that serves locally sourced Savoyard food in a cosy setting. The service is efficient and friendly and there's an impressive, predominantly French wine list.

L'Arbina
Widely recognised as one of Tigne's best restaurants, the restaurant on the first floor of the Arbina hotel offers lovely views and upmarket food, including oysters and melt-in-the-mouth steaks.

Le Caveau
Le Caveau is a popular Tignes restaurant, which serves mostly Savoyard specialities – the tartiflette is delicious. The bar is also a local favourite.

Lo Soli, L'Aiguille Percée
Lo Soli means "the barn" in the local Tignard dialect. If you feel like pushing the boat out, head for this smart Italian restaurant, part of the Alpage restaurant complex located at the top of the Chaudannes chair-lift. The views from the large sun terrace of the Espace Killy ski area and Grande Motte glacier, in particular, are quite breathtaking.

La Ferme des 3 Capucines, Le Lavachet
This is a charming restaurant by the base of the Chaudannes chair-lift. It's a great place for lunch and dinner, serving hearty local food. Children love the fact that the owners' livestock share the building – it's not called La Ferme for nothing – and can watch you tucking into your meal through a glass partition.

Best après-ski bars and clubs
If you come to Tignes expecting the nightlife of its cosmopolitan neighbour, Val d'Isère, you'll be disappointed. Evening entertainment is low-key and British-dominated. Most of the après-ski action happens in Le Lavachet and Val Claret and more specifically in Scotty's, just off the Lavachet piste, and Grizzly's. Crowded House in Val Claret is a real ski-bum hangout and stays open late. Other good bars include Le Lac's La Grotte du Yeti and Val Claret's Fish Tank and Couloir. The most popular nightclub is Blue Girl in Val Claret.
